Shelf-Stable Secret Storage

This instructable shares an easy method to hide your valuables in plain sight! By using simple materials around the house, you too can deceive spectators.
I usually use my secret storage to hide my favourite candies away from my siblings. What might you want to hide in your Shelf-Stable Secret Storage?
Hide cash, USBs, jewelry and your other valuables with little effort!

Supplies
Materials:
- Jar
- Toilet paper roll *
- Non-perishable/shelf-stable product or food item
* Substitute: use a smaller jar or container instead of a toilet paper roll.
Tip: Choose to fill your jar with a product or food item that your friends and family dislike; therefore, they are less likely to find your secret compartment when looking for a snack.
Tools:
- Marker
- Scissors
Create the Hidden Compartment
1. Cut the toilet paper roll
Mark off the desired height, and then cut the toilet paper roll for your hidden compartment to fit inside your jar.
Fill the Jar
2. Fill the jar
Fill the jar with the non-perishable/shelf-stable item of your choice!
Make sure to only fill around the secret compartment; this way, you can use the maximum capacity of the storage.
Also, fill the jar with enough items to block the visibility of the toilet paper roll.
Store Your Items!
3. Use your secret storage
Hide whatever valuable items you want in your Shelf-Stable Secret Storage!
Tip: Tighten up the jar lid to prevent aimless snackers from stumbling upon your secret stash; no one would want to take time to open up your tightly shut jar.
