Sheet Yarn

Recycle an old sheet into usable rag yarn - strips method

Step 1: Cutting Your Sheet

Cut sheet into roughly 2 inch strips. I used an old queen size jersey knit sheet.

Step 2: Attaching the Strips.

1. Cut a small slit in the end of two strips. I colored one end blue to make it easier to see. I will refer to the colored ends as it is easier to explain that way.

2. Bring the white end through the slit in the "blue" end.

3. Pull the entire "blue" strip through the hole in the white end.

4. Pull tight.

Step 3: Making Your "yarn" Ball.

As you attach your yarn strips pull on them length-wise to stretch them out (this only works with stretchy fabric such as jersey knit) roll them into a ball. As you can see a queen sized sheet makes a pretty big ball.

Happy crafting! I am crocheting a round tube-light rug with mine. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
