Sewn Towel Bunny

IMG_4737.jpeg

This is a stuffed animal made with no stuffing. It’s made by folding a towel into a bunny, then sewing it together. I made this bunny, and then decided to make an intractable about it. So some of the images will show a different towel, some times I might use the blue bunny in the image for instructions.

Supplies

-a square towel (if the towel doesn’t have a edge, the bunny will be softer)

-sewing needle

-thread

-rubber band

Folding the Head

First fold the square towel in half diagonally. Leave it a little off of a perfect fold because the two corners will become the ears. Roll the towel up starting from the long side of the folded towel, leave a little bit of the top of the towel alone so that it can become the ears later. Fold the towel in half so that the ears are in the middle of the fold. Use a rubber band to keep and area of the folded towel in place so that it has a head.

Sew the Head

Sew the ears to get as the base of the bunny’s head. Sew to the rubber and on both sides of the bunny. There should not be a head, with bunny ears poking out, and two long parts of the towel.

Fold the Legs and Arms

Use the two parts of the towel and make an X, then fold the X in half on to the belly of the bunny. Have the tips of the towels peeking out from under the head, and there should be something resembling legs at the back of the bunny.

Sew the Legs and the Arms.

On the belly of the bunny, sew the arms to the body. Turn it over and sew the overlapping part of the bunny together. When doing the legs, to make the shape, wrap the tread around the base of the leg, then sew through the bunny to keep the string in place. I used a store bought pom pom on to the butt of the bunny.

Done

Now the bunny is finished, and you can add it to your stuffed animal collection.
