Sesame Candy Rolls and Strings
This candy didn't come from nomal me as I don't have a sweet tooth. It was created by motivation to win the Italian Food Contest and love for using sesame seeds in food like the Italian sesame cookies during Christmas time. The result is pleasantly surprising. It may have turned me into a candy eater if all candies are so nutty, so healthy, so easy to make.
To Try this for yourself, you'll need:
1 Mango (I used yellow), peeled, pitted,
1 Orange, peeled, all white strings removed
200g Apricot, sliced
1 package white sesame seeds
Non stick flat bottom pan
Blender
Baking pan or sheet (need 2)
Non-stick parchment paper
Brush
Kitchen sissors
Toast Sesame Seeds
I used a GE brand rectangular electric frying pan. The bigger the quicker. Set heat at medium. Stir constantly until sesame seeds slightly changed color. Quickly remove the seeds from the pan and set aside to cool. Once cool, store the seeds in an airtight container and use it often and a lot.
I toasted a lot of it, a whole 1lb salt can (recycle, reuse, reduce!).
Puree
Pulse a few times, then process at high-smoothie setting.
Prepare to Bake
Transfer fruits puree into above lined and greased baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it in a thin consistent layer. The thiner the better is my experience. If you don't have 2 cookie sheets, make a trip to Goodwill before you start this project. Depending on the size of mango and orange, and the baking sheet or pan you have, if spreading to a whole sheet seems too thin, use fraction of the sheet; if too thick, skim off some puree and just eat it or use it to make a cup of smoothie for you, cooking is hard work:-). Take care of yourself.
Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top in one single layer.
Bake
When done, it's leathery, can be lifted as a whole sheet, with the edges maybe drier than the middle.
Flip it upside down on a board as you ought to roll theseeds outside. Roll it up. Wrap in plastic wrap to keep it from drying out if you are not going to cut and serve right away.
Serve
My child and I just loved pulling strings from the plate and ate it and had so much fun.
