Sentimental Night Lamp: Hours of Quality Time Together With Zero Spending on Supplies.

When I saw this box I knew it has to be a craft project) Perfectly white, big enough to paint on it and I already had the idea of night stand lamp for my daughter's bedroom chasing me for months.

We all know how hard it is to get toddler to bed, so this lamp is intended to help with it. Each side of the lamp is decorated with all sentimental things and people that she has chosen by herself. She likes the each character a lot and it gives her comfort to look at them. Each night before going to bed she decides which side the lamp will be facing her. And just to let you know it is the cutest thing to watch her choosing the side each nigh, she always explains why she choose it. We have it for almost a week and I couldn't be happier.

Not only it occupied 4+ hours! of our weekend of our time together but now we have to enjoy it every day.

I myself have big interest in light art(you can check my previous instructions) so I try to teach my daughter(4 years) the basics already so she can develop "can do attitude" and develop her imagination. It was also incredible bonding time for both of us to get to know all the things she loves and guide her trough this experience.

You can use all the crafting supplies you have available(at least that is what we did)))

The base for the project consists of:

  1. Nice cardboard box, preferably white color.
  2. Led light source of any kind, can even be small battery powered Christmas light.
  3. paint
  4. pencils
  5. scissors
  6. glue
  7. multicolor paper

Make Design Choices

  1. Let your child decide the color of each side of the cube, can be that she/he chooses one paint it and then decides what will be the next one.
  2. Let your child decide the decorate for each side, ask her/him why he/she choose it/ the story behind it.

  1. Paint one side, help if needed.
  2. Put the box to dry and work on the designs in the mean time.
  3. Place the designed parts on the box.
  4. Repeat the process until all is completed, may take some time but don't rush it spread it over time, remember to have fun together.

This step will require the help of an adult.

Use any type of sharp object, can be sharp pen to make holes in the box such that is surrounds the objects you have decorated it with. That way when it will be lit you could see the same objects in the dark.

Put battery powered light source inside the box and you are done. Great Job, hope you have incredible time spent with your family, we definitely did.
