Senselly is a smart platform/shelf that tracks the usage of products over time. It’s purpose is to automatically notify users to replace or buy more of an item. Users will no longer have to worry about forgetting to purchase an item or rushing to the supermarket. Senselly can currently track up to 5 consumables at once, including detergent, snacks, paper towels, and shampoo. To add a new item, the user enters the name of the product, the percent left, and the compartment number. Senselly starts tracking the product instantly and users can easily view the item’s progress in a simple Android application. When an item is almost used up, Senselly automatically sends a push notification to the user’s phone with a one-tap option to order more. Users can replace or modify product information as necessary, as well as view trends about product usage and the projected replacement date. Senselly is a subtle yet very useful addition to the home and can be expanded further in the future to meet more users’ needs. We are currently in the development process and plan to complete a prototype by early November 2017.
