Self Watering Pot

Gardening is good, but it can be better. Using this amazing pot, you can enjoy a home garden without the trouble of watering everyday. Simply pour water into the straw and the water will go down to the reservoir where the plant can drink as much water as it needs. I have seen a lot of these types of projects, but they always used complicated materials, which is why I made mine out of simple household items.

The Materials

For this project you will need,

A disposable plastic water bottle

A knife or a pair of scissor to cut the bottle

A small piece of twine

A sewing needle or a small pen or pencil

A straw or funnel(Optional)

Prepping the Bottle

To prep the bottle, peel off the sticker, and then cut it in half about 4 1/2 inches from the top of the bottle. When you have made the cut, sand down the edges.

The String

Poke a hole in the cap with the needle and insert the wine through, with about 3 inches on both sides then tie a knot in the middle so it can't slide through the hole.

Building It

Next, take the top and put it upside down into the bottom and tape it together.(If you want, you can add a straw or funnel, by inserting it in between the two pieces of the bottle as you tape them together, you might need to use a syringe to get the water in.)

Finishing

Finally fill the reservoir with water, plant a small seedling and you are done.(Make sure to water it the first day, so the string can get moist.)
