Self Care With ASD
Self Care is really important and with a pandemic going on we might not be having time for ourselves so I've come up some things to do.
Supplies
- Time
- healthy food
- something that relaxes you (Ex. a book or animal)
- hippo Hugs blanket
- essential oils
Hippo Hugs
For me, autism makes it so it's really hard to fall asleep so when I tried a hippo hugs weighted blanket I was skeptical but now that I have tried it I could not imagine falling asleep without one. I have 2 now, they are a bit pricey ( starting price is 125) but what can you say it's for sleep. I love hippo hugs because you can customize everything about it and you could make some pretty cool patterns or if your not into that there are just solid colors.
Eat Healthy
Eating healthy is essential to your health and mental health I like having an apple and some milk.
"Apples are low in sodium, fat, and cholesterol. They don't offer protein, but apples are a good source of vitamin C and fiber. One medium apple has about: 100 calories." From Here
And "Milk is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, including “nutrients of concern,” which are under-consumed by many populations ( 3 ). It provides potassium, B12, calcium and vitamin D, which are lacking in many diets ( 4 ). Milk is also a good source of vitamin A, magnesium, zinc and thiamine (B1)." From Here
Have Something That Relaxes You
to have something that relaxes you is easy, for me some things that relax me are
- Reading, nothing better then reading a good book after a long day!!
- Walking with my dog, gets both our energy out
- Writing, making things happen with your imagination that you always wanted in other books mixed into your very own book
- Looking outside at the pond
- Snow, this does not happen very much where I live but when it does, oh so much joy!!
- art, until you get frustrated lol
