Seed Sower Robot
Our project is meant to be a seed sewer. It is meant to drive straight and let out seed periodically via a twitching servo. Instead of physically having to plant seeds after the land is plowed, a robot could be used to do that process for you as it takes up a lot of time. We grew up in Kansas, which people think is just a giant hunk of farmland, so we thought this would be a great project.
Supplies
- Ultrasonic Sensor: detects obstacles, allowing the robot to know when to avoidone.
- 2 Gearmotors: moves robot forward andperforms turns.
- Servo Motor: Rotates 90 degreesto open and close seed-container
- 3D printed Shell: Covers the vitalcomponents of the Arduino board.
- Funnel: Seed storage unit
- Cardboard Skids: Allow for a perfectly horizontal body
- Gift Card: Attached to the servo motor
Design Circuit Board
- Connect the Arduino Uno to the breadboard by wiring "5V" to "+" and then wiring "GND" to the negative "-".
- For the servo motor, wire the power to "+", ground to "-", and the signal on row 30 in the breadboard. After, you wire the signal from the bread board to pin 8
- For the Ultrasonic Sensor, place it between rows 16-19. Wire the power to "+", ground to "-", echo sensor to pin 5, and trigger sensor to pin 6.
- For the motor driver, connect it on column "d" and "h" between rows 22-29. Make sure PWMA is on column "h" row 22.
- Wire "PWMA" to pin 11, Input 2 to pin 13, Input 1 to pin 12, "STBY" to "+", Input 4 to pin 10, Input 3 to pin 9, "PWMB" to pin 3, "GND" to "-", "VM" and "VCC" to "+".
- Wire the first gear motor to "B02" and "B01", and the second to "A01" and "A02".
Arduino Code and Flow Chart
Down below is the code for the breadboard. Open in Arduino and upload it using a USB cable to the breadboard. Above is the flowchart on the code is supposed to work.

Physical Construnction
- Make a box frame with carboard and tape.
- Cut it an opening for the sensor and power port for the battery pack.
- Grab a funnel and cut off the end. Attach the end of the funnel to another funnel at an angle to create a path for the seeds.
- Attach this on the top of the box frame with tape.
- At the end of the funnel, create a hole in which would be used to block the seeds from falling.
- Attach the gift card to the servo and adjust it in a way for the gift card to block the opening.
- Attach a battery pack on the back side of the box frame.
- Attach wheels to the gear motors and connect it underneath the board.
- On the back of the board create a stand made of cardboard and tape.
- Place the box frame on top of the board and make sure the sensor is not covered up.
- Make sure everything is secured and taped correctly.
