Scrapbooking Guide

This is a tutorial on how to make your scrapbook aesthetic. If you want to learn how to make the actual book, check out this website https://crafts.tutsplus.com/how-to-bind-a-scrapbook-with-removable-pages--cms-20041t . That’s the tutorial I used to make the scrapbook I’m using as an example!

Supplies

  1. Decorative paper
  2. Scissors
  3. Photos
  4. Writing materials

Not all of these are required, but they’re recommended!

Make the Cover Count

The cover of your scrapbook is the first impression. Make it beautiful! Here are some ideas:

  1. Cover it with decorative paper, a newspaper, or a map
  2. Add stickers
  3. Cut letters from a magazine and glue them down to spell a word
  4. Glue a few photos onto the cover
  5. Do a collage
  6. Or just keep it simple and add a label with a basic title!

Since I’m going for a minimal aesthetic look, I chose a simple cover with an aesthetic design! I also recommend having an intro page on the 1st page of your scrapbook. I wrote “2024” on mine with simple designs.

Pick a Type of Paper

I’m using basic printer paper for my scrapbook to keep it simple. Some other options are:

  1. Kraft paper
  2. Construction paper or card stock
  3. Grid or lined paper

Scrapbooks Are Called “Scrap” Books for a Reason

Not all scrapbooks only have only photos. For example, in the picture above, I don’t have a single photograph on the page but it still looks complete. Here are some things you can put in your scrapbook:

  1. Drawings
  2. Stamps
  3. Letters
  4. Ticket stubs
  5. Washi tape
  6. Maps
  7. Magazine and newspaper clippings
  8. Dried plants

Don’t Be Afraid to Make Things Messy

I don’t know about you guys, but a boring no-nonsense scrapbook with everything perfect and parallel isn’t very aesthetic to me. You can tilt your photos and make them overlap a bit. In the picture from step 3, I crumpled and un-crumpled the grid paper scrap just for a bit of aesthetic!

Customize!

Make your scrapbook more YOU! Here are some ideas:

  1. Draw tiny decorations in the corners
  2. Glue decorative paper onto pages and then add other things on top
  3. Write your captions in a nice font
  4. Highlight the captions with a marker
