Scoobie Keychain Using Square Stitch

One of my favorite hobbies as a child was making these keychains (which were later expanded into bracelets).

My friends and I would make lots of these of all kinds and sizes and then bring as a gift to those closest to us, exchange between us or sell.

In this tutorial I will explain how to make a square keychain from Scoubidou wires, hope you enjoy it :)

Note: There are a LOT of common stitch methods and things that can be made from these strings (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoubidou]) , but as stated this guide will focus on making a keychain using square stitches.

Supplies

(for one keychin about 8cm)

2 Scoobie strings in colors that you liked about 60cm

Scissors

Key ring - optional

Folding the Strings

step1.jpg

Hold the strings together (with comapare the starting lines).

if you get the optional key ring: Thread it through 2 parallel strings up to the middle.

Fold in middle so you get 4 strings of equal length together.

Tying the Central Knot

step2.jpg

Grab the strings together and ty a knot close to the meeting point.
(Try to save the equality of the length of the strings)

Tying the Second Knot - the Last Step in the Keychain Basis

step3 fix.jpg

Hold the strings in the main knot and split the four strings as follows:

One purple string to the right, the other purple string to the left.

One blue string to the up, the other blue string to the down.

** Put a finger over this split to preserve it until the knot is made**

1. Take the string in the down side (A) to the up side (left to string C) and create a small loop

2. Take the string in the left side (B) to the rigth of the loop that created in stage 1.

3.Take the string in the up side (C) to the down side in parallel to the loop that created in stage 1.

4. Take the string in the tight side (D) to the left side by insert it under the loop that created in stage 1.

5. Stretch the Strings in pairs.

We will continue this step until the size of our keychain is as long as we like :

1. Take the string in the left side (A) to the right side and create a small loop.

2. Take the string in the up side (B) to the down side by crossing the loop from her right.

3.Take the string in the right side (C) to the left side in parallel to the loop.

4. Take the string in the down side (D) to the up side by insert it under the loop

figure B:

2. Take the string in the down side (D) to the up side by crossing the loop from her right.

3.Take the string in the right side (C) to the left side in parallel to the loop.

4. Take the string in the up side (B) to the down side by insert it under the loop.

5. Stretch the Strings in pairs.

NOTE: Leave enough string to tie a regular knot in the final step.
