My friend is a photographer and has been doing a lot of weddings lately, so I thought I would make her a nice comfy scarf strap for her camera.

Draw a template for your leather pieces on paper. Fold the paper in half to ensure symmetry.
Cut out your template and trace it onto the back of the leather.
Cut out two pieces of leather from your template.
Fold each leather piece in half and use a stylus and mallet to hammer stitching holes around the edge.
Adding the Scarf

The scarf I bought was an infinity style so I had to cut it. There's no need to cut it at this stage if it's a traditional straight scarf. You could also just buy some fabric you like, but may need to hem the edges in that case.
Apply glue to each side of the leather while avoiding putting glue directly on the holes you punched.
Gather the end of the scarf and fold the leather onto it.
Stitch

![DSCN0702 copy.JPG](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FDB/1GRW/I3HWWRIB/FDB1GRWI3HWWRIB.jpg&filename=DSCN0702 copy.JPG)
Use a running stitch to secure the edges of the leather with waxed thread.
When you get around to where you started, go back around to make a solid line of stitches instead of a dashed line.
When you're done stitching, you may have some fibers coming out of the holes if your scarf is fluffy like mine. Use a lighter to gently burn them away.
Repeat this process on the other end of the scarf. At this point, you may need to cut it to the length of your choice.

Open the jump rings and slide them onto the leather and clasps.
Attach the small key rings to your camera and clip the strap to the rings.
Attach and Enjoy

After I made one for my friend, I decided I had to have one for myself.
