Scare Pot

Here you will find all the information to make your own Scare Pot, the perfect clay pot scarecrow fall decor addition. This is the perfect project for a cool, fall afternoon. Gather your supplies and have fun!

• One 4" Clay Pot
• One 2" Clay Pot
• Four 1.5" Clay Pots
• Burlap
• Jute Twine
• Paint (black, white & orange)
• Mod Podge Craft Glue
• Raffia
• Paint brushes
• Glue Gun
• Scissors

Begin by cutting a strip of burlap to wrap around the lower portion of the medium sized pot (2"). The strip will measure approximately 7.5" x 1.75". Next, cut three small squares that will serve as accent pieces for his body and leg. These can be any size depending on how you want your scare pot to look.

Using a paintbrush, cover the bottom area of the medium sized pot (2") with the mod podge craft glue. Wrap the strip of burlap around the pot. Use the remaining three squares for the body and leg. Two should go on the front of the large pot (4") and one on one of the small pots (1.5"). DO not worry about the glue leaking through the holes in the burlap. Once dry, the glue will be clear and unnoticeable.

Here is where you can get creative! Gather your paint and brushes, and give your scare pot the perfect face. Maybe a scary look for Halloween or just a cute fall look.

Now it's time to work on the arms and legs. Measure out and cut two 5" twine pieces for the arms and two 6" twine pieces for the legs.

To put together the arms and legs you will need a glue gun. Place a small dot of glue in the inside of each of the four 1.5" pots. From the bottom, thread the string through and glue it down. Repeat this step for both arms and both legs.

Cut several pieces of raffia and criss cross it across the top of the large pot (4"). Use the glue gun to secure it down.

Using the glue gun, line the inside of the small pot (1.5") with glue, and using raffia strips surround the inside. Repeat this step for both arms and both legs.

To secure the arms on, place two dots of hot glue on top of the raffia on the large pot (4"). Use the end of the arm strings to secure the arms on top.

Using a generous amount of hot glue, coat the bottom of the medium pot (2") and glue it on top of the raffia and arm strings on the large pot (4").

To secure the legs, turn the entire pot structure over. On the inside of the large pot (4") put two small glue dots and secure the end of the leg strings here.

Leave the scare pot turned over and allow to dry for 30 minutes.

Find the perfect place to display your scare pot. Make sure his body is close to the edge of the table you are displaying him on. This allows his legs to hang down. Enjoy the perfect addition to your fall decor!
