Savoy cabbage is tender and sweet tasting.It is high in vitamin K, vitamin C and fiber.I love this cabbage and here is a nice savoy cabbage pie receipe I would like to share with all.

Indredients

For the crust pastry
200 gr all purpose flour
1 level tea spoon baking powder
1 medium egg
1 pinch salt
125 gr soft butter
For the filling
1 head savoy cabbage -750 gr
100 gr onions
6 tea spoon cooking oil
200 ml meat stock
salt -to taste
curry powder
coarsely grounded pepper
3 large eggs
Cummin seed
10 inches diameter baking tray

To make the dough mix together flour and baking powder.Sift in to a mixing bowl and add other ingredients.Stir with a hand mixer with kneading hook,first briefly at the lowest setting,then at the highest setting until the dough is formed.Then roll it into a ball using your hands.Set a side.

Peel the onions and cut in to thin slices.Heat the oil in a large pan ,add the onions and slightly braise

Remove all the coarse outer leaves,cut the cabbage in to quarters,and cut the inner stalks.(A B C D in picture)Rinse the cabbage,strain and cut in to very fine strips.While cutting remove all the inner thick stalks.Refer picture three.

Now add the cabbage and meat stock ,cover and braise for about 15 to 20 minutes stirring occasionally.Finally season with curry powder,pepper and salt.Leave the cabbage to cool down slightly.

Set the oven to: Top/bottom heat about 200°C )400° F (Preheated)
Roll out two -third of the dough and line the base of the 10 inches tray.Shape the rest of the dough into a long cylinder. place round the base and press against the sides of the tray to form an edge about 1 1/4 inches.Prick the base several times with a fork.Put the mould on a shelf in the oven and pre-bake the base for just 15 minutes only.

Beat the eggs slightly and stir it to the cabbage mixture which is already cooled.

Fill the mixture to the pre baked base.Sprinkle a few cummin seed on top and bake at the same temperature for 30 minutes.
The cabbage mixture can be seasoned with cummin seed instead of curry powder.
SERVE THE SAVOY CABBAGE PIE HOT with any type of light cream.I have put a little bit of sour cream on top.This goes very well.
