Savory Veg Hand Pie

Hi Everybody,

This Instructable is a different try, Generally Pie are made sweet or tangy ingredients. This instructable is about savory favor in Indian Style. Let's get into recipe


Supplies

Ingredients

Pie Dough

1) All Purpose Flour - 1 Cup

2) Olive oil - 2 Tbsp

3) Salt - 1/8 tsp

4) Chilled water - 1/4 cup

Savory Stuffing

1) Potato - 4 nos

2) Carrot - 2nos

3) Frozen peas - 1/4 cup

4) Small onion- 4 nos

5) Ginger - 1 inch size

6) Garlic - 4 cloves


Pie Dough

Sieve the All purpose flour, salt and add olive oil, followed by slight whisk and add chilled water

Kneading

Initially it will be crumbly but kneading leads to one ball of dough. Its should neither be sticky nor crumble down when trying to hold it. Hand flatten the dough and cover it plastic wrap . Refrigerate for 1-2 hrs.

Veg Stuffing

Mean while the dough resting in refrigerator, Boil your potato and green peas, cut onions and carrot. Mince garlic and ginger in mini mortar

Fry

Saute onions until translucent, add crumbled potato and chopped carrot . Add green peas and salt, finally add all Masala seasoning and fry for 2-3 min until added masala gives out it fragrance and coated evenly on vegetables.

Roll the Dough

Take out your refrigerated dough and roll, do a fold and roll again. Measure and cut size as per desire, i didn't use any shape cutter here, i have made almost square pieces. Put the stuffing in the middle leaving 1 cm on all sides, put another layer on top. The thickness i have rolled is dough is approx 4 mm.

Tuck It

To merge the top and bottom layer press with fork, sealing the pie and leave a opening on the top

Bake

Pre heat the oven to 200 degree celsius. Prep the tray by lining the parchment paper greased with oil, brush on top of pie too. Bake it at 200 for 20 mins and let cool down for 10 mins in rack. Take it out, its ready.

Serve Hot and Enjoy
