Satyr Horns and Ears

I made a headband with satyr ears and horns on them, but they could also be used for deer ears, cow ears and horns, goat ears and horns, devil horns, and many other things! I love cosplaying and fairy core and this is a fun easy craft that anyone could do. you could make them even if your not a cosplayer, they're just fun!

Supplies

some supplies you will need are:

aluminum foil

painters tape

Elmer's

glue

water

paper

acrylic or tempura paint

hot glue gun or super glue

a headband or large hair clips

bowl

Create Your Base (ears)

take your piece of aluminum foil and start rolling the top part into kind of a banana shape until it is almost your desired size. (picture 1) The side where it attaches to your head should be thicker than the tip. Press it flat towards the tip and on the other side make it rounded and almost cup shaped. (picture 2) then, on the bottom roll it up like you did for the top but less excessively. make sure where it connects to your head is still the thickest. Repeat these steps for your other ear.

TIP: to make your job easier later, create a flat surface where you will glue it to your headband/hair clips

ANOTHER TIP: if you want to use hair clips, make your bases smaller and lighter so the the hair clips and handle it and the won't droop or fall out of your hair

Create Your Base (horns)

To make the horns, start by rolling it up and creating a spiral shape. There are many different shapes of horns that you can make, so look up some references to find one you like. once you've made your spiral, or whatever shape you made, repeat the steps to make your second one. (I know these instructions are a bit vague, but it really depends on what shape you want to make)

TIP: You want to make the foil tight and packed in so it holds its shape.

Tape

Wrap the painters tape around the bases you created in steps one and two. The smaller the tape the easier your job is. Continue until it is mostly smooth and you cant really feel the aluminum texture. if you would like to make some spots thicker, add more tape. You could always skip this step if you would like and go right to paper mache, but i like this because it helps smooth it out.

Paper Mache

create a mixture of school glue and water and mix until it is the consistency you desire. If there is too much glue, the paper may not lay as flat as you would like, but if there's to much water, it may not stick very well. when you're done with your mixture, rip strips and scraps of paper and dip them in the glue, then lay them across your mold until it is completely covered. Again, thinner strips work better and make a smoother end product. once this is completely dry, move on to painting it.

Painting

There really is no wrong way to paint it, but this is mine. I used black, brown, and tan acrylic paint, but if you want to make and pink and purple sparkly unicorn cow, no one is stopping you.

Create Your Headband/hair Clips

I will admit, this was probably the hardest step. If you made a flat surface on your molds, this may be easy, if you didn't (like me-), you may struggle. Once your paint has dried, plan out where you are going to put your ears and horns. Mark this spot on both the headband and the ears (unless your using hair clips, then ignore that). Place a line of hot glue on the headband/hair clips and quickly attach the ear/horn before the glue dries, then hold it in place until it solidifies. You may have to take it off and re-glue it to get the position right (i did). Repeat this step and voila, you have an adorable headband and costume piece! Go find mirror and take some selfies because you. look. stunning! Thank you and bye bye!
