Sattu is a staple food of Bihar region of India. The ingredient is known for its health properties especially it give strength to the body as it is loaded with essential nutrients such as fibre and proteins. This sattu ka paratha recipe will be a great choice for your breakfast. Apart from being healthy, this sattu paratha is also flavourful and extremely easy to make. Supplies

Ingredients for filling

Sattu powder / roasted chana powder 1 and 1/2 cup or as per your requirement

Onion : 1 finely chopped

Mango pickle : 2 tbsp

Kalonji : 1 tsp

Ajwain/ carom seeds : 1tsp

Garlic : 2 tbsp finely chopped

Ginger : 2 tbsp finely chopped

Green chillies : 3 finely chopped or as per your taste

Lemon juice : 1 lemon

Salt as per your taste

Ghee/ oil for frying


Ingredients for dough

2 cup wheat flour

1 tsp kalonji

1 tsp ajwain/ carom seeds

Salt as per paste 

Water to knead dough

Grinding Roasted Chana

To start making sattu paratha we need sattu powder you can either buy sattu powder or you can grind roasted chana ( sattu) to make sattu powder. Take two bowl of roasted chana and grind them into fine powder.

Preparing Dough for Paratha

In a big bowl add wheat flour, kalonji, ajwain, salt mix well then gradually add water and start making a soft and smooth dough

Let rest the dough for 10 min till then let's make filling for paratha. In a big bowl add sattu flour, kalonji, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped garlic, finely chopped onion, finely chopped coriander, juice of one lemon , finely chopped green chillies,and masala if mango pickle( pls make sure to use pickle made from mustard oil ). Mustard oil pickle gives an authentic taste to this paratha. Now mix everything together our filling shuld be moist and shuld hold shape, if you find it dry sprinkle some water till you get desired consistency.

Stuffing of Paratha

Now divide the dough into small balls. Take one ball and make small katori ( pls check video ) next place a portion of the sattu mixture in the middle and bring all the edges together in middle and seal it nicely.

Finally preheat tawa and start rolling your paratha into round shape cook from both sides applying ghee on each side keep pressing the sides till our paratha is puffed out nicely and brown spots appear. Remove from the flame and make all other paraths likewise.

Onces you have done making all parathas. Serve them hot with boondi raitha,/ plain curd or with pickle of your choice.
