Sandstorm in a Bottle

100_0561.JPG

This fun, easy to do project was inspired by our Galaxy Bottle With Glitter. After adding in metallic paint to our Glitter Bottle, we saw what the the metallic paint did to it and want to share it with you. It is very easy to make and is great as a decoration on a nightstand, table, or anywhere you want to show of your craft. Enjoy!

Materials

Very few things are needed for this project, many of which you can find lying around your home.

- a water bottle, mason jar, or a clear bottle

- metallic paint (any color you wish and any brand should work)

- clear liquid glue

Fill Your Bottle

Fill your bottle about one inch from the top with water. Temperature doesn't matter, but I used warmer water.

Add Glue

Add a bit of glue so it thinly covers the bottom of the bottle.

Shake Up Your Bottle

Shake up your bottle and get the glue moving so it isn't all sitting in one place.

Add in Metallic Paint

Add in the metallic paint of your choice. Add about two teaspoons of paint for a regular sized water bottle. Gauge the amount of paint you need based on the size of your bottle. The amount shouldn't be too much of a problem. But, remember, more is better!

Shake Your Bottle

Shake your bottle upside down, side to side, and every which way to get the paint moving so it doesn't stick to the bottom. Make sure your cap is screwed on tightly!

Add in Some More Water

Add in more water so it almost reaches the top. The temperature of the water doesn't matter, but I used warmer water.

Glue the Cap

Now, screw the cap on tightly and glue it using whatever glue you want. This way, the water won't spill out of the bottle.

Finished!!!

Now your Sandstorm in a Bottle is finished! Give it a shake and watch your sandstorm fly!
