Saltwater/Dirtywater to Freshwater Converter
This ingenious invention is very useful. Using only 2 plastic water bottles and a ceramic bottle, it keeps someone alive when out in the wild using only the sun. Using the concept of evaporation and the condensation, it can effectively turn dirty or salty water pure again. Whether at the beach or in a muddy swamp, this invention can turn your water pure again. Let's get started!
Materials
- Plastic water bottle (16.9 oz)
- Smaller plastic water bottle. (8 oz)
- Popsicle sticks (In survival situations twigs)
- Regular ceramic or glass cup
That's all you need. Surprising that so little can keep someone alive!
Cutting the Water Bottles
Measure the halfway point of your water bottle and cut it completely in half. For the normal 16.9 oz cups, its 4 inches. Make sure there are no sharp edges and make sure you remove any paper labels.

Popsicle Sticks
Cut the popsicle stick exactly in half and use tape to secure it to the sides of the cut water bottle. Make sure that these popsicle sticks are at least to the half-way point of the small water bottle. Also, make sure that the flat end of the popsicle sticks is sticking out. If this doesn't make sense, the pictures above will help.
Putting Everything Together
Place the contraption that you just made over the small water bottle so that it is directly over the small water bottle. Then, place the whole thing into the mug or container you have to hold the water.
Final Product
The video above should explain how to fill the water, but basically, what you do is fill the small water bottle with dirty/salty water and place the bigger water bottle over it and then put everything in the bottle you will drink out of.
