Salmon Vanilla Steak
Hello everyone.
When I'm travelling with my family, there is always an item in my wish-list, to taste some new kind of fish meal in a restaurant. One of my favourite fish meals is salmon steak. Each chef is cooking salmon by using his own recipe. Recently I've suddenly discovered a recipe from the famous flavours manufacturer "Nielsen-Massey". They're using vanilla paste in the recipe. For me, it was a little discovery that vanilla could be used not only in baking. After reading that recipe I decided to try it. I've been impressed with the result of cooking by their recipe. The original recipe could be found on the Nielsen-Massey website. This instructable is a mix of best recipes that I've ever tried.
Ingredients
- 6 x 1-inch thick salmon steaks
- 60 g oil (better to use extra virgin olive oil)
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp grounded ginger
- 1 tsp cardamon
- 1 tsp coriander
- 15g sesame seeds
- 2 tsp vanilla paste
- 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
Making Marinade
This step is very simple. Put salmon steaks aside and mix all ingredients in a bowl.
Preparing Steaks
Brush the steaks with the marinade.
Cooking Options
You can cook steaks in a couple of possible ways:
– grill, or grill pan
– oven
Cooking
If you decided to cook steak on the grill pan, it'd be nice to place some weight on top of the steaks. The simplest way is to take a plate and put the bowl with water on top. We need this to achieve better marks on steaks and prevent fish to stick to the pan. Fry for 6-8 minutes on one side and 3 minutes on another.
In case if you decide to bake in the oven, simply place the baking sheet with steak in the preheated oven to 200˚C and cook for 12-14 minutes.
Serving
Serve the steaks with salad leaves and your favorite veggies.
Bon appetite!
