James Gym Center (Safe + Active) by Simone Riley

Hello, my name is Simone Riley and I'm going to show you how I made this gym rec center. I would like to thank Autodesk the opportunity to meet James Devilian on Zoom and to see his work come to life. I became inspired by his determination, love for the community and athletes. I call this design challenge project "Safe and Active", because I want communities and athletes to be able to enjoy their time exercising and feel safe during the pandemic.

In Boston, people are trying to cope with the pandemic. Most gyms are closed and people have to excerise at home. Recently they have been trying to reopen gyms and make appointments to come in the gym to excersize. Although staying inside can prevent people from getting covid, others will have a hard time adjusting especially having to be at home. I'm sure you would probably get lazy.

With the model that I will be showing you guys, I think it will be possible to make the community safer, more accessible to people and good for the environment.

Before I start making my model, I want to get have a vision to what my potential model would look like. Mostly I use Google or Pinterest to see cool designs of gym centers. Some of these picture have different shapes and sizes. Some even have green spaces that make the building more lively and beautiful to look at. Here is a few pictures I saw that gave me ideas on what I want to build.

The software that I am using is Formit, made by Autodesk. In this software I was able to make my base which is the squares. I also wanted a place that could be anywhere on the map. With that I can make it a bit more realistic with my model.

When I started using these squares, I thought maybe I should create more so it looks like other stores or houses are apart of the gym center. I actually like making it look that because it makes it seems that there is a community is there.

Inside rec centers, we see lots of things, like tennis courts, volleyball, swimming pool, Gym equipment, etc. So I thought of having some of those stuff inside the gym center. With this vision I want people to see what kind of things they can be doing there. Including teenagers that want to be athletes. Thank you for looking at my gym!
