The SU-4 droids are utility droids. The SU-4 droids are 36 cm tall. They have large spherical heads with a large sensor for analyzing their environment. The head of each droid is attached to its body with a ball joint allowing them to look in any direction without having to turn all the way around. These droids also have 4 wheels for traversing any terrain. On flat ground they can reach top speeds of 30 km/h. They have 4 multi-purpose opposable arms, with a standard 1-size-fits-all tool attachment point. This is so that they can use whatever tools necessary for the task at hand. One flaw with this 4 arm design is that you can’t use more than 1 tool at once (this problem eventually gets solved with the SU-5’s 3 axis arm as opposed to the SU-4’s 1 axis design). Each droid has a selection of tools, stashed inside the base of the chassis. The attachments include, but are not limited to, drill bits, screw bits, pliers, knives, wrenches, and even welders.  Some droids are tasked with repair or assembly, and others are tasked with scouting and planning. These tools are a universal size so you can always have the right set of tools for your job. These droids are mainly found on ships and in hangers. The SU-4 droids also make for great companion droids, because of their versatility, loyalty, independence, and happy expression.

The particular SU-4 droid shown in the images below is an old droid back from the days of Skywalker. Its original resistance base has been long decommissioned, so it roams around the desert looking for things to repair. This SU-4 droid was given 5 tools. It has a small red flashlight, pliers, a deep socket, a screw bit, and a drill bit. This droid has a lot of overall damage, but SU-4 droids are built to last a long time, and be very durable.

I made this droid in Fusion 360. It took me around 4 days to complete. It was really hard getting the metal material to look right. I ended up just making my own. I really love building things like this and hope to make more and better designs in the future. I am studying to be an engineer so I really love these sorts of projects, and I am really pleased with the way this turned out.
