After the new republic took hold in the galaxy, Arakyd Industries was pressured to demilitarize and instead producing probe droids turned to the everyday space freighter. While they would still work in secret with the First Order, a front to distract from their less than legal dealings would need to be constructed. The SPR-12 line was the company's response and these droids were designed to compete with the more popular astromech designs of other companies. The droids were more expensive than the average astromech but were highly adaptable and had 6 switchable tool appendages that could allow for a variety of ship repair and salvage operations making them sought after by smugglers and pirates. They were constructed from old imperial probe droids and defunct astromechs that could be bought cheaply though few were ever produced as the main revenue for the company at the time came from the previously mentioned secret military contracts.

Star Wars and Autodesk have both been huge in my career as a maker and encouraged me to become an engineer. I was first introduced to Inventor in an engineering class in middle school which allowed me to make and 3d print all sorts of amazing things and that experience has opened so many doors since, including the chance to study engineering physics at UC Berkeley. I am a huge fan of star wars and getting to participate and see all the designs in this has been so much fun.
