SOUND OFF WIND-UP REPULSION DRIVE

You can see and HEAR the 30 second wind-up of a 2.4 HP Repulsion Motor Start and
then switch to Induction Run.   On a Large cast Iron Wood Planer.

A planer this size can shave off 1/8"  from a 12 inch wide board that is 20 over feet long.

Question :  Why not run on the repulsion motor all the time ?

Answer :  Repulsion motors have a set of carbon brushes sliding over
a copper commutator that is rapidly accelerating rotational velocity wearing
copper and brushes..

While both machines have bearings, the Induction motor has low stating torque and
no brushes to wear out, making it the motor of choice for continuous planer operation..
