SMART NAILS
This is a theoretical project of how smart nails would be able to save a person's location in an instant. The thumb nail has a contact sensor that, when pressed in a certain pattern, saves the current location on the mobile phone. In order not to accidentally save the location, two different patterns must be made, the first one alerts you and the second one confirmation.
In order to know if we are using the device correctly, when we make the first pattern, some LEDs on the wrist will turn light up in color red. If you want to confirm, do the pattern indicated and the LEDs will change to green, indicating that the location has been saved.
COMPONENTS
LED stripe: (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current is passed through it. Light is produced when the particles that carry the current (known as electrons and holes) combine together within the semiconductor material.
Touch sensor: A touch sensor is a type of equipment that captures and records physical touch or embrace on a device and/or object. It enables a device or object to detech touch, typically by a human user or operator.
Jumpers: Element that is responsible for joining or bridging between two terminals thus closing an electrical circuit.
Arduino nano: Open source microcontroller board
220 Ohm Resistors: The resistor is a passive electrical component to create resistance in the flow of electric current.
Transistors: A transistor is a device that regulates current or voltage flow and acts as a switch or gate for electronic signals.
CIRCUIT
In order for the circuit to fit, we have weld the components to a bakelite plate and we have used the arduino nano, which allows us to optimize a lot of space.
CODE
To make the electronic components of our project work, we had to program their code. We have made the code to choose the color of the LEDs, the pattern to turn them on and the length of time they are open. We also had to program the contact sensor to send the correct signal to the led.
PROTOTYPE
To recreate how the nails would work, we used a glove and a wristband in which we placed all our components.
CONCLUSIONS
In this project, we had to come up with an idea that is closely linked to the near future of technology. Having to think about our own proposal has forced us to think about technology and to look into the future of industrial design in an area we have not seen before.
We have also learned the operation and utilities of new electronic tools and components which will be really useful for us in a near future.
