SCREAM DIY Ghostface Mask
Hey guys, today lets create a DIY Scream mask. You can use it for Halloween, for any special occasion, or just for fun!
Supplies
Here are the supplies you need:
- Paper
- Cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue(any type)
- Spray paint
- Red markers and pens
- Elastic
- Brown or Canvas paper (for spray paint)
Go Print It!
Go to the Hekreations website. Then, find the Masks Dropbox and hover your mouse over it to find 'Free masks.' Click on it. Scroll down until you find the 'Scream Mask FREE.' Click on it, then click on the 'download now.' Now print the mask and lay it out.
I wouldn't have made this mask without Hekreations, so thank you.
Glue It
To strengthen the mask, you can glue the cardstock to the paper, although this step is optional. I used clear Gorilla Glue and Super Gorilla Glue for this. After applying the glue, I placed a heavy book on top to ensure that the cardstock and paper bonded properly.

Cut It
Once the cardstock and paper have bonded for 24 hours, it's time to cut the mask pieces. Carefully cut along the outline of each piece. After cutting, you can begin folding. Fold down along the dashed lines and up along the dotted-and-dashed lines. To assemble the mask, glue the pieces together by matching the numbers. I recommend using Elmer's glue for this.
Spray Paint It
I chose to spray-paint it a matte white to give it that iconic white from the Scream movies. This step is optional. If you are doing it, I highly advise putting a canvas or some paper on the ground, wearing gloves, and having some airflow before spraying it.
Put Some Blood on It
I used markers for my project by cutting off their ends and removing the ink-filled tubes from inside. I did this for about five markers. After that, I placed the tubes in a small bag and squeezed them to create a blood-like dye for my mask. For this step, I used a small plastic bag and a 1-inch paintbrush. Be sure to wear gloves, as this can get quite messy. Additionally, I added red pen ink to enhance the 'bloody' appearance, and the ink really, really made a difference. By the way, the blood color looks a bit darker in real life than in the photo. This will take 5-6 days or less to dry (Have good airflow so that the ink can dry).
Elastic
Once the mask has dried completely, you can attach an elastic to make it stick to your face (I used a black elastic). First, get the elastic measure it around your head from ear to ear and back, then shorten it a bit so it will stay on your head. After that, glue one end of it to the mask. I made marks on the mask so you know where to place the elastic and tape (check the photos!). Now, you duct tape the elastic to the inside of the mask. Do this for the other end.
Padding
I just took a pool noodle, cut it, and then took a quarter of it, taped it to the mask, where my cheekbones are supposed to be.
Viola! Now you are officially done with your ghost face mask
Finished!
I wore a black headwear that was very clearly visible, then put on my mask and a black jacket. The outcome of this project was very successful! Hope you have a lovely day, and Happy Halloween!
