Every race needs a trophy of some sort and this instructable will show you how to make one from an early scalextric trigger controller.

MATERIALS and TOOLS

MATERIALS

1 plastic lid (I used a Nescafe coffee lid)
1 Scalextric trigger controller (it was a broken)

TOOLS

Flathead screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver
1 Bolt (approx 6 mm dia)
2 nuts
2 washers
1 Bradawl (hole poker)
1 Drill (approx 5 mm)
1 Manual drill
1 File
1 Gold spraypaint
1 Black spraypaint

TAKING APART THE SCALEXTRIC TRIGGER

Use the screwdriver and unscrew the two screws and push both segments of the trigger away from each other, please note you may see little tabs that may need pushing in slightly to enable you to take the trigger apart.

You may have more parts inside your controller than I did, remove what you don't want.

FILING a HOLE IN THE TRIGGER

I found that the bolt that I was using was too big in diameter to fit in the trigger hole so had to file a slightly bigger hole.

TROPHY BASE

IMG_2884.JPG

Poke a hole in the center of the trophy base(Nescafe coffee lid) using the bradawl(hole poker), use the drill to make the hole bigger, test that your bolt fits the hole, if it doesn't then use the file.

SPRAYPAINT

Spraypaint the two trigger halves in gold and spraypaint the base of the trophy(Nescafe coffee lid) black.

ASSEMBLY
