Rustic Cardboard Flowers

Looking for a rustic centerpiece? These cardboard flowers are easily crafted in an hour, and are a perfect addition to your own table, or to use as decorations or place settings for a party or reception. These flowers would also make a thoughtful gift to cheer a friend.

Supplies

  • Large cardboard tube (like paper towel size)
  • Heavy duty scissors
  • Cereal box
  • Copper wire
  • Hot glue

Cutting the Petals and Center

Using scissors, cut lengthwise down the side of a paper towel tube. Then, using a ruler and pen, place marks on the side of the tube, every 1/4 inch. With the scissors again, cut around the tube's circumference, to form ringlets.

For the center of the flower, Take a cereal box, and cut pieces out of it, measuring approximately 3/16x 1 inch.

Assembling the Flower

Begin by creasing the flowers in the middle, and then hot gluing the free ends together, to form uniformly shaped petals. Out of a cereal box, cut a thin strip, to attach your petals to. Curl the strip into a circle, and hot glue the ends together. Evenly space your petals around the exterior, and hot glue them place.

For the center, take the pieces of the cereal box that you cut, in the last step. place them in the interior of the circle ring, and hot glue them in place. Take a piece of copper wire, for the stem, and hot glue it to the interior of the flower.
