There are 24 skills in Runescape, and once your out of Tutorial Island you're most likely woundering "Where am I and what do I do now?" Well there are many things to do but this instructable is focused on Combat. These skills include Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, Magic, Range and Prayer.

After logging in you will have runes for magic, a bow with some arrows, a bronze dagger a bronze sword and a wooden shield. Plus various other items but those are not really combat related. Except for your food because thats how you heal in this game, by "getting fat". The first thing you might want to do is leaving the noob castle. In the second picture follow as the red arrows goes. On your navigation go east to the bridge. After that go North until you see a cow pen, just south of it is some trees, cut some down and gather some wood by left clicking it. When you enter the pen gather some raw meat that is usually lying around and cook it by using your wood to make a fire.

What Skill Do I Train in Combat?

The answer of which combat skill to train is up to you. Want to wield stronger weapons? train attack. Want to hit harder? train strength. Want protection? Train defense to equip better armor. Want to range or mage? Train those levels. click on the two crossed swords, hover your cursor over the different options and it will tell you what you are training with that option. if you want to train that click it. thats only for melee

Range or Mage?

Ranging or Magic is easy. Magic training is expensive and is powerful if used correctly. Opposite side of the crossed swords is a book with spells. Hovering your cursor over the spells you will learn what runes and level you need to cast that spell. Ranging is not as expensive and strong against the mages. Wielding a bow and equipping arrows will enable you to range, the same way as melee is the way you change the type of thing you are training. Thank you for reading my instructable and i hope you learned about the combat styles of Runescape. My next couple instructables will be covering MONEY MAKING skills, please add feed back and any helpful hints on making my instructables BETTER!
