Ruins in Lines: Art Inspired by Architecture

From Sketch to Stitch:
An artistic representation of iconic architectural landmarks using black thread on canvas. This project transforms hand-drawn sketches into textured line art by carefully gluing thread to recreate detailed building facades. A fusion of design, architecture, and fiber art.
Supplies

Materials:
1. White canvas
2. Black thread or yarn (Can be any color up to you)
3. PVA glue (neutral pH)
4. Ruler (set square)
5. Tweezers
6. Scissors
7. Eraser
8. Pencil
Sketch the Outline on the Canvas

Using a pencil, lightly draw the outline of the architectural structure or object you want to create. Try to make clean, simple lines just to guide the placement of the thread.
Erase Any Mistakes Gently

If you make a mistake, use a soft eraser to correct it. Be careful not to rub too hard. leave only a faint shadow of the drawing to avoid visible marks under the thread.
Apply Glue Along the Lines

Use pH Neutral PVA glue and apply it carefully along a small section of the pencil lines. Work in small areas at a time so the glue doesn’t dry before you place the thread. (Avoid any yellow glue)
Place the Thread Over the Glue

Using tweezers or your fingers, gently press the black thread onto the glued section. Follow the lines slowly and adjust the curves as needed. You can use the tweezers to guide tight corners or small arches.
Let Each Section Dry Before Continuing

Wait a few minutes for the glued thread to dry before moving on to the next section. This helps prevent the thread from shifting or lifting.
Add Final Details (Optional)

If you want to include a title or your signature (like “Colosseum” or “Your signature”), you can do this with thread too or write it neatly with a fine pen.
