Rube Goldberg Scrap Project

Welcome to this instructable. I made a Rube Goldberg project to turn on a light. Some of you may ask, "What is a Rube Goldberg Machine?" Let me tell you. It is defined as a chain reaction-type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way. This took a lot of time so please make sure to watch the entire video! This is how I did it but I encourage you to make your own!

Design

I started with a design. I drew out what I was going to make, but first needed an initial design.

First

I then started building the machine. I started with a tonka truck going down a driveway attached to another string. The scrap string preventing the tonka truck from going down the slope would be burned by a candle. Gravity would then pull the tonka truck down the driveway. a piece of cardboard out (the cardboard is from scraps in my recycling). The cardboard would then release a baseball. The baseball would go down a PVC pipe due to gravity and fall into a KFC bucket (the PVC is leftover from a potato cannon and the KFC is scrap from a meal from KFC). Pulls the trigger of a nerf gun with a string that it is attached to. The nerf gun fires a bullet which hits a bunch of scrap wood that gets continuously bigger. The final domino of scrap wood is attached to a piece of string. The other end of the string is attached to a...

Finally

A hammer. The hammer is pulled off a shelf. The hammer is attached to another piece of string. The string is at a higher point so that when the hammer falls, the string will turn on a light switch.
