Rubber Band Dyed Easter Eggs

Use various sizes of rubber bands to create patterns on your eggs as you dye them! It's super-easy and very inexpensive, and fun to add a new dimension to egg dyeing.

Supplies

  • Vinegar
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Egg dyeing kit
  • Rubber bands
  • Newspaper
  • Coffee cups
  • Vegetable oil

Making the Dye

Place one egg dye tablet in a cup. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and let tablet dissolve. After the tablet is fully dissolved, add 1/2 cup of room temperature water. Stir throughly. Repeat process, until you have a variety of egg dyes.

Adding the Eggs

Place rubber bands in a criss-cross pattern, on hard-boiled eggs. Gently place eggs in dye.

Alternative Dye to Marble Eggs

An alternative dye, is to place 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in dye. This will create a marbled pattern, on the exterior of the shell.

Removing the Eggs

After 30 minutes, remove the eggs from dye. Place eggs on cardboard to dry. Remove rubber bands after eggs are dry.
