Roulette Wheel

Untitled v9 cover.png

As an avid enthusiast of game design and mechanics, I embarked on creating this roulette wheel to deliver a seamless and equitable gaming experience. My goal was to craft a wheel that not only meets the rigorous standards of casino equipment but also enhances the thrill and fairness of the game. Every element of the wheel, from the precision-engineered bearing bottom and walls to the carefully positioned numbers, was meticulously planned and implemented. I used advanced tools and multiple design iterations to ensure each component functioned harmoniously to prevent any biases and maintain the random nature of the game. This roulette wheel represents not just a gaming apparatus, but a culmination of careful thought, precision engineering, and a deep understanding of the dynamics of chance, making each spin a fair and exciting event.

Supplies

-Three Different Colours of PLA (Red, Black, and Green)

-Marble or Stainless Steel Bearing (18mm)

-Skate Bearing (22mm)

Design Crass-Section

This crass-section you see here is essentially the blueprint I've developed for designing a roulette wheel. I went through numerous sketches to perfect this design, ensuring every detail was precisely measured. The goal was to eliminate any potential bias toward specific numbers on the wheel. Each element in this diagram—from the central hub to the outer rim—is carefully plotted to ensure uniform weight distribution and flawless rotational balance. This meticulous engineering is crucial because even the slightest deviation can affect the game's fairness. By adhering to these detailed plans, we can manufacture a wheel that guarantees each spin is random, maintaining the integrity of the game. This cross-section isn't just a drawing; it's what makes the fair and unbiased roulette wheel possible.

Bearing Divet (22mm)

The bearing divet is a critical component of the roulette wheel's design. It's essentially the starting point of every game, where the ball is placed before each spin. The design and placement of the bearing divet are meticulously planned to ensure it's perfectly centered and precisely shaped. This is crucial because any imperfections in the divet could influence the ball's movement, potentially introducing bias into the game. The divet needs to be smoothly integrated into the wheel to allow the ball to rest securely and launch evenly when the wheel is spun. Ensuring this feature is flawlessly executed in the construction of the wheel is vital for maintaining the integrity and fairness of the gameplay.

Bearing Bottom (22mm)

The bearing bottom is positioned right at the center of the wheel's base, which is fundamental to the entire mechanism. By placing the bearing bottom in this precise location, it supports the spindle that holds the wheel, allowing it to rotate smoothly and freely. This central placement is key to ensuring the wheel spins evenly, without any tilt or skew that could influence the outcome of a spin. The bearing not only supports the physical spinning of the wheel but also plays a crucial role in the fair distribution of outcomes, as it ensures each spin is as random as possible. When players place their bets and the wheel spins, it's the bearing bottom that contributes to the suspense and excitement, turning each spin into a chance for a potentially lucky number to come up. This component, while seemingly simple, is integral to the dynamic and fair play of the roulette game.

Walls

The walls are precisely engineered to be high enough to prevent the ball from leaping out during a vigorous spin, yet positioned in such a way that they subtly influence the ball's trajectory towards the numbered pockets. This design detail helps to eliminate the possibility of the ball landing ambiguously between two numbers, which would complicate the determination of the winning bet. By ensuring the ball can only come to rest in one distinct area, the walls enhance the clarity and fairness of the game, making every outcome straightforward and undisputed. This feature not only upholds the integrity of the game but also heightens the excitement as players watch the ball decisively drop into a pocket, revealing the winning number.

Numbers

When I was designing the roulette wheel, I paid special attention to the placement and presentation of the numbers. I used a text tool to carefully input each number, ensuring they were all uniformly styled and sized for clarity. I made sure to center each number perfectly within its designated section on the wheel. This meticulous attention to detail was crucial for both the aesthetic appeal of the wheel and the functionality of the game. It ensures that every number is clearly visible from any angle around the table, making it easy for both players and dealers to see where the ball lands without any confusion. This precision in the design phase really helps uphold the integrity of the game and provides a smooth, enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
