Root Beer Float Frappuccino

Root beer sounds like a weird combination with coffee, but it surprisingly works well together in a frappuccino! A blend of root beer, vanilla, and coffee is an interesting way to start the day.

The reason I decided to even try this out was because the other day I was looking at my vast collection of Torani's and trying to decide what flavor of Frappuccino to make. I saw the root beer syrup and thought it might just be crazy enough to work and it tasted pretty good. It isn't my favorite, but it is a nice new flavor to try out once in a while.

Supplies

This recipe is a single serving and makes about the equivalent of a 16oz Grande from Starbucks.

Ingredients:

  • 2c ice
  • 1/4c coffee (I tend to use more milk and less coffee, but use the ratio you like best, my goal is always to have 3/4 cup of milk+coffee)
  • 1/2c whole milk - or you can use whipping cream or Half & Half; the creamier the drink, the more "float-like" it will be
  • 3 Tbsp Root Beer Syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla Syrup
  • 2 Tbsp simple syrup
  • Whipped topping
  • Pinch of Xantham Gum (optional)

No Caffeine:

Replace 1/4c coffee with whipping cream/milk/or whatever you are using. Though, honestly, if you aren't going to add coffee, might as well make a real root beer float ;)

Utensils:

Blend it all up together. Make sure you get that ice crushed.

Since this drink is pretty basic, I just stuck with whipped topping in a beer mug I got at the 99 cent store.

Enjoy

This may sound like a weird drink and you're probably thinking I'm crazy, but if you like the taste of root beer and you are a frappuccino fan, I don't see why you wouldn't like it too!
