  2. LCD shield with built-in buttons
  3. 9V battery
  4. batteryconnector
  5. camera case or something the arduino will fit in with the shield

The Idea

for the idea i did a lot of searching on pinterest for pictures of different small game computers. i also thought about the things i wanted the device to be able to do such as choose difficulty, choose # of players and how to implement all the different tricks.

i went with this idea:

the device is asked to generate a basic trick, an obstacle to do the trick on and finally a modifier for more advanced skater. this can be a certain rotation, a grab or making a stall a grind.

Building the Code

since i myself am not a coding genius at all i had to ask a friend to help me get my code to do what it had to do. instead of coding in all the different instances i wanted for options for the game we just made arrays and ask for one out of each array every loop. this saved me a lot of headache because it was way less ambitious and more doable for me.

every trick combination gets printed on the screen and pushing the 'down' button will regenerate a new combination.

In the 'documentatie' below (in dutch) you can read more about my process

for this step i found a perfect case with looney tunes pictures on it! i think it's a camera case and it's the right size for my project.

i wanted the screen to fit through so i cut out a hole for the screen. i had to cut a second hole for the screen adjusting screw that's right above the screen and sadly the same height. i taped around the holes to finish off the edges. now i can just push the screen through and it stays in place

for the button i only had to draw it on because the casing is soft enough to push the button through the material.

to turn on the device i open the camera case's zipper and connect the battery to the arduino and then i zip it shut. now i'm all ready for my super interesting, never boring and very special skate session!
