We found this child rocking chair at the local charity shop. Hard to tell how old this chair is, but most likely it was made not in this century. Wooden frame of the chair was intact, but its back and seat lost net. It was not even clear what kind of net chair had previously: straw, wire, or rope . We bought this chair with intention to give it a new life.

Choosing the String

I decided to restring the chair with utility rope I bought at the Ace Hardware store. Diameter of rope 3/16 inches fitted perfectly. It is a little bit less than size of holes in the chair frame. Strength 300 lb is more than enough for the project.

Restringing

For stringing I have chosen the simplest conventional pattern. The same pattern you usually see in tennis or badminton rockets. I did stringing just with my hands without using any machine or tool. My muscle strength was more than enough for the job. When I put last string line I have tied the knot at the line end so rope will not get lose.

That's it. That's the project.
