This will teach you how to make a styrofoam hand

Supplies

Styrofoam, Exacto knife, Elastic Bands, Sanding block, marker, needle, fishing line, paper clips, hot glue gun, ruler.

Draw the Shapes Onto the Styrofoam

Before drawing the fingers, you have to measure them to measure each finger use your ruler and press it against any of the fingers.Write your measurements down. Take your marker and draw out the measurements of the pinky finger, ring finger, middle finger, pointer finger and thumb. You will also need to draw your palm and wrist.

Cuting the Finger

after you have drawn your fingers, palm and wrist. Cut the outline of all of your drawings out with your exacto knife.

Cut Triangles

WIN_20240607_14_45_28_Pro.jpg

When your done cutting out all your fingers, cut small triangle based prisms out from the corners of the square based prisms.

Sand the Fingers

After cutting the corners, use your sanding block to round the corners you just cut. Also you have to round the top to make a smooth half sphere

Segment the Fingers

WIN_20240607_15_04_26_Pro.jpg

Next you need to measure the 3 diffrent segments of the fingers. After your done measuring cut the segments out of the whole fingers according to your measurements

Making the Fingers Bend

WIN_20240607_15_05_54_Pro.jpg

Next you have to make them bend forward, to do this cut a maximum angle of 45 degrees off each end of the finger, for the bottom segment of the finger on the top, cut a 45-degree angle, for the middle segment, on the top and bottom, cut a 45-degree angle, for the top segment, on the bottom, cut another 45-degree angle

Making the Finger Retract

WIN_20240607_15_08_47_Pro.jpg

So we can bend the finger, but we need it to go back to its original position, how do we do this. All we need to do is attach the elastic bands to each of the finger segments

Attach the Fingers to the Hand

WIN_20240610_17_01_09_Pro.jpg

take a needle, thread the finger segments through the middle of each segment then from the top of the hand, thread the finger through the position that the finger should be in and come out palm of the hand.
