Robot Speaker

In this instructable, I will be showing you the necessary steps, and materials needed to make a Robot Speaker.

The supplies needed to make this Robot Speaker include: 2 Logitech S150 USB Speakers with Digital Sound, Adafruit Pro Trinket 5V 16 MHZ (1 piece), Neopixel 16 LED Ring with Integrated driver, some cable (about 10 ft), Sandpaper, 2 pieces of 12 in. by 24 in. Plywood, and glue.

Some tools that you will need to construct this Robot Speaker include: a soldering iron, a laser cutter, a polisher, and a wire cutter.

We used onshape, a CAD program, to design our Robots moustache. First, we looked at a picture of a cartoon moustache on the internet. Then on onshape, we made some curved lines in the shape of a moustache. And finally, we laser cut that moustache out of birche wood.

The next step is to cut out two pieces of 24 by 12 inch plywood, to create two 7 by 7 in pieces. Then, you have to cut out the other four pieces by calculating what would make a perfect 7 by 7 by 7 in cube. This is because you have to account for the fact that you cannot make a perfect 7 by 7 by 7 inch cube with 6 7 by 7 inch pieces.

For this step, you want to take both of the Logitech S150 USB Speakers with Digital Sound, and break them apart on the sides so that you are able to take each speaker itself, outside of the shell.

The next thing you want to do, is connect the speaker wires to an aux cord or amp, so that the music from your phone can be played through the speakers.

Now you should be able to put the pieces of wood together to form a cube. Put two pieces of wood that are the same size on opposite sides. Then you want to place all of the other pieces on the other sides that are missing. Finally, you want to hot glue or nail all of the pieces together. However, you should not nail/glue one of the pieces, as you still have to put the speakers inside.

Now, you want to make holes in the cubes so that both of the speakers can fit, and so that wires can come out from the back. Then, you want to place the speakers inside of the holes.

Now, you want to nail/glue the final piece of the cube on top.
