Hello Everyone,

GOOD DAY !!! Recently I made some simple Robocar projects for my friend's son. For that I made a report in step by step and also made a video tutorial for all the robo ideas. Total I think around 6 different Robot ideas. So I thought it is better to share all the information with you guys also. Because information is not a thing to hide. So you can use it. If you are facing any issues, you can ask me without any hesitation. I am dividing my Robocar tutorial in four parts, Here it is last part. Let's start....

Supplies

Limit Switch SPDT three 3 pin 1A/125V or 2A/125V : 6 Nos

Limit Switch SPDT three 3 pin 5A/125V : 4 Nos

Female Spade Crimp Connector Size: Suitable for above limit switch lever (for both) :4 Nos each

170 point mini Breadboard : 1 Nos

3x1.5V AA Battery Box Holder : 1 Nos

IR Proximity Sensor Board : 3 Nos

LM293D Motor Driver Board : 2 Nos

Male-Male breadboard jumper wire : 30 Nos

Male-Female breadboard jumper wire : 10 Nos

Nuts & Bolts

M 2.5 x 25mm (diameter 2.5mm*length 25mm) : 8 Nos

M 2.5 x 10mm (diameter 2.5mm*length 10mm) : 10 Nos

PCB Single Stranded Wire : 4 Meter

Single Stranded Wire 1 mm : 1 Meter

Light Controlled ROBOCAR – 1

It is a light controlled robocar. In which the robocar steering and forward motion is controlled by normal torch light. The presence of light is detected by using a LDR sensor. Then NE555 IC is used to control the motor driver based on the LDR signal. In this project there are 2 LDR sensors for controlling each side robocar motor. When light fall on both the sensor the robocar will stop. If no light on both the sensor then it will move forward direction. If light falls only on the left LDR then it will turn to left side and if light falls only on the right LDR then it will turn to right. By this way we can easily drive the robocar by simple torch.

Let’s start……

  • Remove all the connections from the breadboard except blinking light connections and battery connections
  • Remove the IR sensor module from the chassis and keep the motor driven in the same place
  • Connect motor driver input signal pin number 1 to +ve rail on the breadboard from both inputs
  • Place the 555 IC on both ends of the breadboard in the correct orientation (refer introduction section for finding the IC pin number)
  • Do the given procedures for both the ICs
  • Connect 8th and 4th pin of IC to the +ve rail in the breadboard using single stranded yellow wire
  • Connect 1st pin of IC to the –ve rail in the breadboard using single stranded yellow wire
  • Connect 2nd and 6th pin of IC together using yellow single stranded wire
  • Connect LDR between 2nd and 1st pin of IC via a1 kilo ohm resistor
  • Connect 2nd input pin of same side on the motor driver to 3rd pin of the IC using jumper wires
  • Connect one LED (-ve) to the 3rd pin of the IC and the remaining LED leg to the +ve rail via a 1 kilo ohm resistor
  • Connect 3.9 kilo ohm resistor in between 6th and 8th pin of the IC

Done!

Note: Avoid falling light from the LED to the LDR sensor. So to avoid that bend the LED to one side. Test the robocar in a less light area. Otherwise that light will trigger our robocar circuit. So try in different light conditions. Also refer the video more understanding.

It is a modified robocar by changing little bit wirings. So in this case the robocar will move forward only when falling light on both the LDR sensors. The robocar will stop when there is no light falling on both of the LDR sensors. If there is light only on one LDR sensor then it will take a turn based on the position of that sensor.

Let’s do it…..

  • Remove the jumper wires from the 3rd pin of the IC and connect it to the –ve rail on the breadboard
  • Remove the jumper wire from +ve rail on breadboard which is connecting from the 1st input signal pin on the motor driver
  • Connect the jumper from 1st input pin on the driver board to the 3rd pin of the IC

Done!

You can try your own ideas and modifications in these projects. It is just a guide only. You can make infinite types of circuits using these components. Nothing can stop you. You are the only one who makes boundaries around you. Break the chain, think beyond and explore. Try your ideas and explore more about electricity. God bless you.
