Roasted Pork Sirloin
Cooking for one can be a pain most cuts of meat at your local grocery store are for 3 or more servings. This is a very nice dish it is two servings so one person can have two meals on different days or it is a good date night meal. After all, the shortest route to a ladies heart; is a man that cooks, cleans, and does the laundry. Most of all this is how to make the perfect gravy.
Ingredients
1 pound Pork Sirloin Roast.
Bite Size New Potatoes Russets and Gold.
1 good size Carrot
1 Small Onion or 1/2 large onion
Ground Black Pepper
Parsley
Garlic Powder
2 Cups Water
2 Tablespoons Flower
2 Tablespoons Corn Starch
Place the Pork Sirloin Roast in a 2 quart roasting pan or oven safe pot.
Wash and add the bite size new potatoes around the roast.
Dice and add one good size carrot.
Dice and add one small onion or half a large onion.
Sprinkle with black pepper, garlic powder, parsley and add the water.
You can use fresh garlic but in a small dish it can be a bit overwhelming.
Roasting
Preheat the oven to 350⁰ degrees and roast for one hour.
If you are a working person like most of us are today, you can prepare this the night before and place the roasting pan in the refrigerator. The next morning you can place the roasting pan in the oven and set the timer so dinner is ready when you get home or when you get home place the pan in the oven.
Making the Perfect Gravy
Cooked right you should have about a cup of liquid on the bottom of the pan.
Take the roast out remove the strings and slice the roast.
Take the vegetables out of the pan.
There should be a thin layer of juice on the bottom of the pan. Now here is the trick to non-lumpy gravy, use a sifter to add two tablespoons of cornstarch and two tablespoons of flower to the juices.
I use a sifter I can hold in one hand and sift while I stir the gravy with the other hand making smooth gravy right from the beginning.
Serving Dinner
When you eat alone you might not care how dinner looks, but if you are on a date looking nice is just as important as tasting good and practicing on your self is the best way.
Place the pork roast slices in a line on one side of the plate, top or side doesn’t matter. Place the vegetables on the opposite side and coat with the gravy.
If you are on a date, your date will appreciate the effort.
