Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Garlic and Bacon
In this instructable I will show you how to cook Brussel Sprouts. I love this recipe for Roasted Brussel Sprouts with garlic and bacon. Growing up I did not like eating Brussel Sprouts, but now I love them! They are one of my favorite roasted veggies to eat. And it is a great recipe if you happen to be on the Keto diet. They are very easy to make, if I can do it you can do it, let's get started!
Make sure to follow me and check out my other instructables. :)
Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial or do both! :)
Ingredients and Tools
You may print the recipe here on my website.
Ingredients:
- About 1 pound of Brussel Sprouts, washed. (450g)
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. of olive oil (30 to 45ml)
- 4 to 6 garlic gloves, halved
- 3 to 4 strips of bacon (certainly add more or less or leave it out)
- 1 Tbsp. Balsamic vinegar (15ml)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- Garlic powder (to taste, not shown in the video, but I like adding it)
Tools:
- Cast iron or stainless steel skillet (oven safe) or use a 9x13 pan and skip the stovetop step
- Tongs
- Knife
- Cutting board
Prep Those Brussel Sprouts
First preheat the oven to 400 F (205 C). Make sure to wash and dry your Brussel sprouts. Next cut off about 1/4 inch of the ends. Then cut them in half lengthwise. If they are really large, cut them in 4ths. :) Prep the garlic by cutting each end, then removing the shell, then cut those in half. Prep the bacon, but taking 3 to 4 strips and cut them in small pieces.
Time to Make Them Sizzle!
Take a cast iron or stainless steel (oven safe) pan and heat it up between medium and medium high heat. Add in most of your oil, and let the oil heat up for a few minutes. Then you can start to add the Brussel sprouts, cut side down.
Turn, Add, Cook
Using your tongs you can turn over any Sprouts to have their cut side down, you don't have to get too crazy with it, I don't do them all. Then add in your garlic and bacon pieces. Let the Brussel Sprouts cook for a few minutes until the flat side looks nice and brown. Then place the pan in the oven. While in the oven, every 7 to 8 minutes take them out and move them around with tongs, to ensure even roasting. They will wind up cooking for about 30 minutes or so in the oven. You can skip the stovetop cooking step, and just add the Brussel sprouts, garlic, and bacon, in a 9x13 pan, and go straight in the oven. :)
Season and Serve
When they come out of the oven they will look something like this. Next season them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Then add in your balsamic vinegar. Now you are ready to serve! They taste the best warm, in my opinion. :) Enjoy! :)
