Riverbank Diorama

This is an entry for the Diorama Speed contest. THIS is a rebuild of a River Bank diorama I made years ago.

To make this the following items will be needed, First two printouts for the background- I got these from Facebook from "Living The Adventure Dios": There are many backgrounds, floors, walls and accessories like boxes there. Second, are what is called "Moss Sheet" for the ground itself ( I got these from Dollar Tree: It was only when i began this rebuild did I realize that these Moss Sheets were smaller than the ones I used the first time) Third, A sheet of blue posterboard for the river, and a sheet of sturdy foamcore board for the base: In this rebuild I used black. Fourth, A glue stick and hot glue.

I make dioramas for toy photography. THIS is a Rebuild of a River Bank diorama.

Building the base. First of all, use the glue stick to glue the two printouts together. Then measured it against the foam core board: I cut off ten inches off of the board crosswise. This will make the base and backdrop of the diorama. In the backdrop i cut a series of tabs into it, Then measured 1.5 inches off the back of the basepiece and cut out slots that matched up with the tabs. I then slid the tabs almost into the slots, applied hot glue, then pushed them all the way in, and stuck toothpicks into the tabs to hold them in place.

Now that the base was assembled, I trimmed the white edges from the printout then glued it down onto the background. A glue stick is best for this as the glue stick does not add moisture to the printouts and damage the printouts themselves.

I then put the two moss sheets onto the base for measurement, and discovered that the Dollar Tree Moss sheets are smaller than the Walmart moss sheets... Oh well. I'll buy a third to fill in the spaces later on.

I then marked a half inch back under the moss sheet and hot glued on part of the blue posterboard for the "Water" of the "river'. I then hot glued the moss sheets on top of it.

To reinforce the bottom I hot glued foam core scraps onto the bottom, then hot glued reinforcements onto the back of the background. And here the diorama is finished for now. To make the river more realistic put clear plastic cellophane or other plastic over the blue section. AND go to Walmart for the larger moss sheets.

Now, to show off the flexible scale of this diorama, these are pics of 3 3/4 figures in the diorama: These are two of my customs and a commercially available dragon figure. This dio can be used for fantasy, sci fi, or G.I. Joe figures.
