My first project is an artistic one. I wanted to make something related to one of my favorite TV Shows and I saw this video on Youtube from a channel called Duke Doks.

Supplies

  • 3D printed figurines
  • Sand paper
  • Primer
  • Paint
  • Varnish

3D Printing

First step is to 3D print the models. You can get them from the official page of the original designer:

Sanding

The best way is using sandpaper. You can start with a rough one (400 grit) and them use softer ones (800, 1200 grit...)

Priming

To finish covering the layers you can use primer. I used a spray one that it's easy to apply. After applying several layers it is recommended to sand them one more time in order to get a perfect surface.

Painting

This is one of the most important steps. The quality of the paint is important. I used acrylic paint and applied it with a brush but the best way to paint them is using an airbrush.

Varnishing

Finally, in order to protect the paint, I applied a couple of layers of varnish. This will protect the paint and the figurines will have a very nice finish. In my case, I used matte varnish to avoid any reflections and make the colours pop up.
