Reversible Fleece Beret (Less Than Half a Yard)

Hi! This is my first instructable! I will be explaining how to make a reversible beret. I had a hard time finding a clear and specific, step by step beret tutorial, so I created a tutorial with tips that I used to make a reversible beret from fleece scraps I had in my craft space! It's almost foolproof because of how straight forward it is!
Supplies
Beret:
Sewing machine (not required)
Sewing needle, thread in matching colors, pins or clips, scissors
Fleece or similar weight woven fabric
Ruler or measuring tape
For making the pattern, you'll need
Embroidery or regular chalk
Pencil and string OR compass
Paper or cardboard
Making the Pattern

My own pattern is 12 1/2 inches across for the outside circle, and 7 1/2 inches for the inner circle. I cut it out with cardboard but you can use paper, like wrapping paper.
I draw an x with the length of the outside and draw the circle with a compass or a pencil on a string held in the middle.
As another option you can measure your head and draw a circle the radius of your head, then another bigger circle around it for the pattern.
Also cut out two 1 inch by 2 1/2 inch rectangle for the little detail on the top.
Cutting Out the Pattern

Decide if you want your reversible beret to be two colors or patterns, for my example I used tan and brown because its all I had.
Take your fleece fabric, I used less than half a yard in scrap fleece from another project.
Cut out two circles of both colors, four in total using your pattern. Use the inner stencil to cut a hole into one circle from each color, two in total.
Stack and Sew

Put the two circles of each color on top of eachother, with the right sides facing in . You should have two separate two layer stacks, one layer with a hole and one without.
Sew the outer circle, about 1 cm from the edge. If you are sewing by hand I suggest using a backstitch or if you use a straight stitch go around twice for extra security. For the one used in the demonstration I used my sewing machine.
Adding the Hat Details

You can skip this step, but If you want one of the little accents on top, take the 1 inch by 2 1/2 inch fabric pieces (you will need two to have it on both sides) and sew it together into a tube. Turn it inside out then fold it in half to attach to the center of the inside of the beret on both pieces.
I did this part by hand and it wasn't perfect, but it will look more finished once everything is together. You could also just attach a pom pom to the center of both sides with fabric glue if you don’t have enough fabric or want to save some time.
Sew the Inner Circles Together

Turn one of your pieces inside out like shown in the image, and leave the other piece outside in.
Insert it into the other circle that is outside in with the seam showing, and line up the inner circles as much as possible.
You are going to sew the inner circles together next, but you're going to need to leave a hole open. I am often forgetful, so instead of chalk I used pins to mark where I’m going to leave the hole open. A 3 to 4 inch hole will allow you enough space to turn it inside out.
Turn Project Inside Out

Once you turn it, it will look a little funny, but as long as it looks funny in the way I have pictured that means you're almost finished.
You should see both of the details and both sides attached seamlessly. Then, push one side into the other and smooth it out as shown in the second picture.
Close the Hole in the Seam

Find the hole you left open. You're going to want to close this with a ladder/invisible stitch as shown to finish it.
Pull it tight, tie it off, and there you have it! A foolproof reversible beret with scraps!
Finished Project!

I would definitely reccommend this to a confident beginner, and it can be completed in less than an hour with all the materials on hand. Thirty minutes, even.
It can easily be tweaked to make a more complicated design or add more details. Please share it with me if you try my tutorial!
Thank you for reading my tutorial! I hope it helped!
