Reuse Old Things to Make New Things!

A problem around the world is lots of people throwing out their clothes which could make pollution a big problem. Some ideas I had when thinking about what to do with clothes were: blankets, reusable bags or reusable hand warmers.  A solution I found for pollution is reusing clothes to make pillows. Those pillows could be used for many people. For example, once done with the new pillows, they could be given to the people in need. Some constraints I had when making my pillow was trying to cut the clothes in a straight line and sewing the pillow together in a straight line.

3d Model

The first step I did was design a 3d model of pillow.

The measurements I have for my pillow is 1 foot by 1 foot 7 inches

To do this design I started a sketch on onshape on the front panel. Once I did that I created a rectangle that was 1 foot by 1 foot and 7 inches. With that rectangle I extruded the rectangle and had put it .38 inches wide. Once extruded, I rounded the edges at a .65 angle.

Measure Clothes

The second step I did was meassure and mark my old clothes to the size I wanted for the blanket and pillow

Cut the Clothes Where Meassured

After I meassured my clothes to the length i wanted to cut them to which was 1 foot by 1 foot with 7 inches. After I measured, I cut them.

Stitch Sides

After I cut them, I layed them on top of each other and started to stitch. I stitched all the sides excpet for one. On the last side, I only stitched half so the pillow stuffing could go in.

Putting in Stuffing

For this step, before putting in the stuffing you should flip the pillow inside out. After flipping it, you are going to need old pillow stuffing for the new pillow you're going to make. You should put as much stuffing as you want.

Sewing Pillow

After putting in the stuffing, you re going to sew off the rest of the pillow together. Once done sewing off the pillow, you have yourself a new pillow for yourself or a person in need.
