Retro Inspired 🌼 Plastic Shirt

A 1960's Paco Rabanne Inspired shirt made from Milk Jugs 🥛

I've ALWAYS wanted a shirt like this but could not afford the $500 min. price tag - SO I made one for under $3

Plus I made matching earrings 😊

It was a bit time consuming but I think worth it overall!

Hope you guys like it!

-Milk Jugs (about 3)

-Chain (bought secondhand but you could also repurpose a necklace OR use string)

-Scissors and/or an Exacto knife

-Non permanent marker

-Pattern for the flowers

-Pliers

-Wood burning kit

This one Hopefully is pretty self explainatory but TRUUUUST me... you will want to make sure there's no lingering milk residue.

I used an Exacto knife to cut off the top and strong scissors for the base.

I printed out the template in 2 different sizes but that was just my preference.

*Use a non-permanent and easily washable marker so as to not stain the plastic*

It's also faster to use already cut flowers to make the tracing easier rather than the paper.

I recommend being really careful and doing this step outside so you don't have to smell in the burnt plastic too much.You could use a hole punch to try to avoid this issue but I found this SO much faster.

I tried a few different combinations but this one was the one I liked the most.

As you can see, I have made them alternate sizes and angles the whole way along.

You can lay them on a shirt to get roughly how many to do across or you can take safety pins and clip em to your shirt to see if you like it.

I recommend using 2 pairs of pliers to open the chain links.

I kept my pattern consistent and did 5 chain links attached to each petal and then connected them to each other with 1 chain link.

I also did longer chain rows on the sides to connect the front and back. It gives the shirt better movement and will be better for getting in and out of.

The thicker chain gave it a lot more support.

& BOOM you're done!

I am truly so excited to dress this up all summer.
