Retractable Claw Arm

Here is my idea for a retractable craw that s mounted on your arm. Ever drop something and its just a little to far out of reach. This claw can solve your problems. Its very inexpensive and easy to make.

Supplies

Some supplies you will need are:

Drawer Slides (including screws)

Aluminum tubing

plastic claw arm

3D printed spacers

Zip ties

Assembly

To assemble this we need to connect everything together. Using spacers, we can screw them on to the claw arm. We are going to use this to mount onto the drawer slides.

Once the claw is mounted on the drawer slide, we can attach both parts of the sliding rail together. You can secure using Velcro and or zipties.

For our handle that will open and close the claw we can take apart the handle on the one mounted and insert another rod into the same handle. This will help control the opening and closing of the claw. You can attach anything to the end of the rod for your handle piece to active claw.

With our aluminum tubing, we can zip tie the already assembles sliding claw to the arm. Place where most comfortable.

Final Product

Here is an example of what it will look like once complete. You can slide your arm through the tube and have it ready when ever. Gravity and a little force will cause the arm to slide. Just wave your am out in a fast motion to have the arm slide out. To retract, just use your other arm to push in.

Safety Piece

This is is the safety piece that allows you to use your project. This slide in on the rail behind the claw when its in its outward position. It should drop into one of the screw holes. This is the final piece that will make the project work. Without this, when you try to active the claw, it will just slide your rails back and wont work. I will also leave a video explaining the process and assembly for more help.
