Restore Your Shower Mirror

A shower mirror transcends handy and goes right into being a necessity. Unfortunately, minerals and whatnot in water render your mirror useless over time. Here, we're gonna fix that.

If you shave your face or head, a shower mirror is one of those things you need, but don't know you need. Unfortunately, as you can see by the cover photo, claims from vendors that your shower mirror is water proof and will stay looking great forever are just a little shy of honest. If you happen to live in an area with hard water, like I do, that's even more divorced from the truth. Still, restoring your shower mirror to usability takes just a few minutes. Here's what you need:

Isopropyl Alcohol (one bottle, 70% is useful for cuts, and will probably work here, but around here, we tend to have 91% or 99% for other purposes).

Rainex (one bottle, available at some hardware stores, most auto part stores, or Amazon)

Paper towels (probably won't need more that 2-3 sheets.

I cleaned the mirror with the alcohol. Took 2 passes, and there are still small water spots, but I didn't let that bother me. In the past, I've done a full alcohol soak, letting it sit for an hour, and that works great, but it might be overkill.

Real simple; follow the directions on the bottle. It does what it says on the tin. Afterwards, wipe off with a damp paper towel.

You're good to go. You'll probably have to do this again in 3-6 months, but as you can see, it's no big deal.
