Repurposed Boots Into "Crocs"

With the nature of my work, I regularly wear-out my rubber boots. Rather than throwing them into the garbage or donating them to Good Will, I discovered they can be repurposed into my garden shoes. Enjoy!
Gather All Materials Needed.

- Old pair of rubber boots
- 5/16 drill bit
- Drill
- X-Acto knife
- Scissors
- Magic marker
- Jean button snap rivets (4)
- Fabric measuring tape
- Ruler
- Channellock Pliers
- Pair of Crocs (optional)
Outline Shape of "Croc".

Choose a boot to start with. Using magic marker (be sure to use a color lighter/darker than the boot), outline the shape of a "Croc" onto boot. **Optional: Use a pair of brand Crocs to help reference the shape of outline.
Cut Along Outline.

Using sharpe X-Acto knife, carefully cut through the boot and along outline the outline removing top of the boot and set it aside for later.
Measure Circumference of Shoe.

Using the fabric tape, measure the outside circumference of the shoe opening.(Note: Half of the total, plus an additional 1 inch, will equal length of strap) As a reference, mark the middle front of the shoe, then measure 1/4 of total circumference on either side of the front mark and make a mark on both sides of shoe 1/2 inch below edge. Drill hole through each mark.
Cut Out Shoe Strap.

Using the fabric tape, measure along the top edge of the boot, the length for the shoe strap. Then using the ruler, measure 1 inch from the top edge of the boot every 2 inches. Use the marks as a reference and cut out the shoe strap.
Prepering Shoe Strap.

Using the scissors, round both ends of the shoe strap. Then mark 1/2 inch from both ends and drill hole through both marks. Push a jean button rivet into each hole from outside of boot strap.
.
Assembling Shoe

Align jean rivets in the prepared shoe strap with anchor holes and push back ends into the rivets. Use the channellock pliers to securely fasten each jean rivet.
Repeat.
