Got a new bike with no handle bar tape?
Is your current Handle bar tape just degrading and gross?
Got a retro road bike with crappy handle bar tape or foam that needs to be replaced?
Need to make adjustments to cables that run under your current tape? (You probably know how to do this already...)
Bored and want to read a really simple instructional on some routine bike maintenance?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is the instructable for you!

Here's what you will need:

Take off old tape or foam.

Remove old positioning tape and or ties.

Do any maintenance or re positioning of cable or accessories while the tape is off.

Start wrapping with tape at a slight angle.

Beginning at the opening of the tube. (See Picture). Make sure to start with some tape hanging over the edge of the tube so the end plug will have some material to catch on. (See Picture) Overlap each pass by about ⅓ of the width of your tape. Make sure the tape is kept taught for the entire wrapping process, some stretching is fine. Continue wrapping until you reach the brake lever hood.

Continue wrapping, being careful to avoid allowing too much material to bunch up on the inside of the curves as you work around the bends in the tube, as uneven bunches in the tape may lead to discomfort later.

How far in on the bar you wrap is subjective, just make sure you have wrapped far enough to accommodate the narrowest grip you would want to use, but also be careful to leave enough of the bar unwrapped to accommodate any computers, headlights, or other accessories you might want to mount that cannot be mounted over your tape.

Cut the handle bar tape at an angle so that the material tapers and you are left with a clean line when you finish wrapping. (see picture)

Use the self sealing tape strip that came with your kit to seal the top of the wrap. (see picture.)
Insert end tube plugs. (See Picture)
